Grow shell beans just as you would snap beans; just leave the bean pods on the plants 2 to 3 weeks longer to allow the beans to size up. Pick your beans after the pods change color and start to turn leathery, shell the beans out immediately, and store them in the fridge. Fresh shell beans must be cooked for 15 to 25 minutes (eating raw beans can give you a doozey of a tummyache), but need no pre-soaking. Once cooked they can be used in salads, served as a vegetable, or used in place of cooked dry beans in many dishes for a fresh twist.More News Updates Caffeine Lowers Perception of Exertion Cookie Sales Are Crumbling
